(THEORYLAMP) — USA —This morning a quite but unique funeral was held for Jacob Hall – a 6 year old kindergarten student that was fatally shot by a gunman during recess hours at his school in Townville, South Carolina at the Oakdale Baptist church. The incident occurred on the 28th of September at the Townville Elementary School where Jacob was shot by the 14 year old gunman.
He was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately was unable to survive and succumbed to his injuries on October 1st as his life support system was removed. This incident is by far the saddest fatality of the exponentially increasing gun violence in the USA. Like every other child of today, Jacob loved superheroes so the attendants that were to arrive at the funeral were asked to dress like the characters the child once adored. Prior to the funeral, Jacob’s brave parents gave a statement (to abc news) that echoed deep rooted pain but also displayed characteristics of a high moral grounding as they were quick to mention that ‘Jacob had already forgiven’ the horrible act that took away his life.
“Jacob came into our lives six years and four months ago and changed it completely. He showed us how to love, laugh and smile even on days we did not want to. God gave him to us and he was taken away from us by a senseless act.”
“We know that Jacob has already forgiven this child for what he did to him and his family because that’s the kind of child he was. Jacob was sent to this earth for this short a period of time to show us that there is such a thing as pure love. Jacob is in heaven with God now and everyone who loves him. Words cannot express how much we will miss him.”
The close to 1500 attendants had members that were dressed as Superman, Captain America and the Ninja Turtles. The rest of the community members wore superhero t-shirts. Many people broke down in tears and had to be carried into the church. The whole event was very heart wrenching for the tightly knit peaceful community of Townville.
Batman was also present at the funeral – Firefighter John Buckland who was dressed as the masked vigilante could not control his tears as he took to the stand and gave a strong worded statement to the mourners.
“Take what you have learned from Jacob,” he said. “Let it make you a better husband, a better father, a better brother, a better sister, a better everything.”
Jamie Brock – the hero volunteer firefighter that took down the gunman was also present at the funeral. He walked into the church accompanying the Hall family with the procession. Townville Fire Chief Billy McAdams, Gov. Nikki Haley and U.S. Rep. Tim Scott were also present at the funeral. An emotional moment ensued when Billy McAdams broke into tears after having viewed Jacob’s casket.
Jesse Osbourne, the 14 year old accused of the murderous rampage is being charged in juvenile with one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder. The boy attacked the school after having shot his 47 year old father Jeffery Osbourne to death – He is said to have been shouting disturbing statements such as ‘I hate my life’ repeatedly during the rampage. His father was previously convicted for domestic abuse The accused is still undergoing trial and prosecutors believe he was mentally disturbed.
